The field of the federal goverment had been delimited between the three units namely the Centre the States and. the British Indian provinces and details would be found in the report of the Distrbution of Powers Committee. [...] The actual decision -would have been the same if the judment were delivelred by any other meber of the Board but the structural beauty of the whole the phrasing order and logic of the ideas marshalled are plainly the pesonal contribution of Lord Blanesburgh the judicial technician and jurist. [...] 115 of the Civil Procedure Code and why interpretation of that clause varies from Bench to Bench and even from case to case decided by the same Bench We would add that in the present case the meaning of the learned Chief Justice may be that if an error of law does not go to the root of the conviction there is no case for interference but if the error be such that the whole foundation of the conv [...] The result of this is that to find out the relatioship between a particular State and the British Government one has to gather it from the different chapters under which the political history of British India in reltion to the Indian States is noticed during the rule of the different Governors-General. [...] The learned Judges of the High Court held that " having regard to the clear evidence in the case the verdict of the jury was unreasonable( and against the weight of evidence." In the rsult they convicted the Petitioner under secs.
