The theme of the Letter is the marked falling off in the earnings of the copyists and typists in most of the subordinate Courts in the Districts and the object of the Letter is to raise the earnings to the prescribed standard. [...] The Presidents of the Conference have enumetated the causes which have led to the falling off in the income of conyists and typists and a comprehensive resolution has -adopted them. [...] The idea seems to be that the officers are purity itself and the only step needed is protecting them from the contaminating touch of the clerks. [...] It is directed by the Letter that the pleaders found to use such copies should be told by the Court that the use of such copies is disapproved and if he is found to persist in the practice the card of his clerk should be witdrawn. [...] And it should be considered that the functions of the clerks being what they are involving all the duties of acting it is impossible for the pleaders to conduct the cases of their clients properly if association of their clerks with officers of the Court and their admission to the office rooms be fobidden.
