We have explained repeatedly how if-the Long Vacation commences at the end of August the whole of its first month is practically wasted for the majority of the members of the Bar ; and how if no interval of time is available between the re-opening of the Civil Courts and that of the High court the litigant public are seriously ebarrassed in filing Appeals or presenting Motions on the re-ope [...] to govern the fixing of dates for the holidays of a Court is the covenience of the Bar and the litigant public. [...] As far as we can see the only circumstance special to the present year is the existence of the war ; but how the war affects the profession in the matter of attending Court or how any inconvenience caused by the war could be mitigated by carrying on with the Court for a further month is a matter which we are wholly unable to comprehend. [...] We do not know whether the Bar Assciation will lend its support to the movment initiated by certain of its members In making representations on the subject of the Long Vacation in the past we have claimed to voice the opinion of the Bar. [...] Since the request is to be limited to the " coming Annual Vacation " it cannot rely on the general reasons on which a later closing of the Court has been advocated in the past but must make out its justification in some special reason on account of which by the due closing of the Court on the due date the Bar would be prejudicially affected.
