On the other hand it is our opinion that the framing of the new rule has been a step in the right direction and we would have been happier if in addition to the emancipation of the Advocates of the Apellate Side the rules as to acting had been changed so that the new rule might really benefit those Advocates and so that junior barristers too might have a better chance under the new order of th [...] The latter are confined to their old disability in regard to acting whereas the former while retaining the right to act on the Appellate Side get the additional right of pleading on the Orginal Side as well. [...] We consider it only fair and necessary for the full fruition of the new rule that Advocates entitled to practise on the Original Side including barristers should be admitted to the right of acting on the Original Side. [...] The Barristers will remain as they are safe in the enjoyment of their present rights suffering from their present disabilities and only subjected to an influx into their special domain of a large class of persons suddenly enfranchised; and the latter though wearing the sacred thread of the bands will not yet acquire the privileges of the caste but will remain so far as the Original Side is [...] It seems to us however that in extening to the Appellate Side Advocates the right of practising on the Original Side it was not the intention of the High Court to take away from them any of the rights they had previously enjoyed.
