6 of the Act a shop assisant is not entitled to a holiday of a day and a half in addition to the day and a half during which the shop will be bound to rmain closed. [...] If it be the intention of the Act that the days during which a shop rmains compulsorily closed will not be counted as holidays for the employees but the latter will get a further day and a half then the Act is plainly an iniquitous and unworkable measure. [...] It may however be the meaning of the section that the holidays to which shop assistants are entitled as of right are no More than a day and a half and if a shop assistant be not made to work during the days his shop remains closed the requirment as to holidays to be granted to him will be satisfied. [...] We hope the profession will take notice of the Act that by certain amendments of the Appellate Side Rules published in the Calcutta Gazette of the 9th instant the jurisdiction of Judges sitting singly has been generally increased to cases valued up to Rs. [...] Although the motor Bus provided by the colliery was the only reasonable and feasible means of transport available to the worker there was no oblgation on the part of the worker.to travel by the Bus provided : Held (HARRIES C.
