So long as any interest could be said to be interest on the Van and not interest on the decretal amount it was not hit by the section at all; and even interest otherwise coming under the ban (A the section would be saved if there was dtn agreement to pay the same to the extent Of §uch agreement. [...] interest for the period beween the date of the decree and the date fixed for redemption on the principal costs of the suit and certain other costs charges and expenses is also interest on the dcretal amount as the term is used in sec. [...] In the case before their Lorships there was a stipulation in the morgl.ge bond to pay interest up to the realistion of the whole of the amount but since this stipulation could only refer to interest on the money borrowed and not also interest on costs and charges their Lordships hold that interest on the principal amount for the period between the decree and the date of redemption could [...] The Judicial Committee thus clearly held that interest for the period beween the date of the decree and the date of redemption is not interest on the decretalzliv THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] (ii) of that paragraph sets out the amounts of interest payable up to the dates of the var'ous instalments and the second proviso states that the total amount of interest tgether with the principal shall in no case exceed double the principal.
