So that even if the rules of 1)acca high Court do not require the removal of the name of an Advocate from the rolls of the Calcutta High Court the Calcutta High Court may not allow his name to remain in its rolls. [...] This was in response to a letter from the Bombay Legal Aid Society drawing the attention of the Government to the recommendtions of the Ruslicliffe Committee appointed by the Lord Chancellor of England in 1.944 to report on the facilties which should be available to poor persons in need of legal advice. [...] We agree with the report of the Rushcliffe Committee that no department of the State should be entrusted with the duty of giving aid to the poor for in many cases the State itself may be an 201 11.1 THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] The expenses incurred by the State in giving such aid may be debited to the acount of Administration of Justice and if a separate account of such aid is desired to be kept a report from each Court shoing the amount of court-fees remitted and the out-of-pocket expenses paid may be called for by the AccOuntant-General. [...] in the case of defendants the plaintiff should be made to pay the costs of the Goernment and in the case of failure or partial failure of the defendant the same consideration as in the case of the plaintiff would apply.
