The allegations in India in this respect are only confirmed by the trend of the recent debate in the House of Commons. [...] The matter of fixation of boudaries between Nationalist Bengal and the other half of the Province is a life-andeath question for Nationalists and we think that canvassing in a vital matter like this on behalf of certain busy-bodies of the legal profession who aspire to be prmoted to the rank of Nationalists ovenight by merely putting on a Gandhi cap or 'wearing a Khaddar dhuti should [...] We urge the exercise of the utmost caution and care by the learned Chief justice in the matter of appointment of future Judges. [...] The Government formula of compromise on the issue of the abolition of death penalty has been accepted by the House of Commons. [...] The House of Lords restored the death penalty in the Criminal Justice Bill and thereupon a constitutional crisis was imminent with the likely consquence of getting the Parliament Act cutailing the favour of the House of Lords passed.
