It is needless to say that the practice of allowing “ favourites ” to appear and to receive favours is not a practice only of the present day nor is it conithed to the prcincts of the Allahabad High Court. [...] The practice of a Judge being requested to appoint a supposed "favourite" as a Receiver or as a Commissioner of Partition or as Liquidator in proceedings for the winding-up of a Company or as an Arbitrator in respect of subject-matter of suits is not unknown in other parts of India. [...] Dikshit the constituted attorney of the Plaintiff in Alfred Park about the end of August 1946 and engaged him in convesation and stated that the case should be compromised by the Plaintiff. [...] It is to the Courts that the citizens look for protection against corruption abuse of power tyranny and such like." In order that the high standard of aministration of justice to which Sir Arthur Trevor Harries Chief Justice of West Begal referred to in his speech may be maitained the independence of the judiciary must be!guaranteed. [...] But at the same time we urge that the Federal Court should frame suitable rules of conduct for the guidance of the members of the judiciary throughout the Dominion of India.
