Consequent upon the declaration of the High Court that the West Bengal Security Act is no longer valid since its extension by a reslution of the Legislature did not amount to legislation as envisaged by the law the question had been raised as to the validity of the continued detention of persons orginally detained under the impugned Act but said now to he held in jail under the somewhat mus [...] With all his sympathy for the underdog a Judge cannot let his personal predilection do any violence to the law of the land which in nearly all the world is not too sensitive to the needs of the poor and the lowly. [...] Change thus is of the essence of life and is witness to the dynamic character of the ascent of man from primitiyity. [...] Some of those who are counted among the highest in the land and who are by no means chary of sending out messages eyen to Mars if that planet is not unready to receive them have chosen however to behave in the case of the Lawyers' Confeence in a manner which we prefer not to characterise with the adjective that immdiately suggests itself. [...] Instead of maintaining the rights of the citizen the Courts and the Judges became prostituted in a servile suservience to tyranny.
