The Lord Chief Justice is head of the King's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice and next in rank to the Lord Chancellor although the Law Lords sit in a superior indeed the final Court so far as the United Kingdom is concerned.* He is appointed by the Crown on the rcommendation of the Prime Minister. [...] In addition the Lord Chacellor the Lord Chief Justice and the President of the Probate Divorce and Amiralty Division of the High Court of Justice ate ex officio members of the Court of Appeal. [...] by the Crown on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor are 31 Judges of the High Court who with the Lord Chacellor the Lord Chief Justice and the Presdent of the Probate Divorce and Amiralty Division comprise the High Court of Justice. [...] The President of the last-named Divsion like the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice is appointed' by the Crown on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. [...] Justices of the Peace arc appointed and removable by the Lord Chancellor (except in Lancashire where these functions are performed by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster) on the advice of the Lord Lieutenant of the County.
