The Supreme Court was unanimous in holding that the sufficiency of the ground which gave rise to the satisfaction of the Gvernment to pass an order of detention under section 3 of the Preventive Detention At was not a matter for the consideration of the Court. [...] We congratulate the Hon'ble the VicChancellor and the members of the Syndcate on the noble forbearance which they displayed on the occasion as well as on the firmness with which they have later dealt with the situation in order to guard against 4apses of the kind in future on the part of the employees. [...] We commend the ready compliance of the employees to abide by the decision of the Syndicate rquiring the signing of a pledge to observe the rules of conduct and discipline. [...] On.et'ne citlier hand the question whether the vagueness orkinclefinite natere of the statement furnsherl to the detained person is such as to give'Vrn the earliest opportunity to make a.representa.:ion to the authority is a Matter within the jurisdiction of the court and subject to Court's decision. [...] It is not the province of the court to eamine the sufficiency of the grounds for the purpose' of making a representation a matter left entirely to the discretion of the executive authority.
