After conveying his sincere thanks the learned Chief Justice dealt with the reference made in the speches from the Bar to the maintenance of the traditions of the Court. [...] In my view the importance of Courts is even greater under a democratic constitution like ours where as the learned AdvocateGeneral has reminded us the Courts have been given the function of saying what the constitution is of seeing that none of the various bodies including the legislatures exceeds the limits of its power and of seeing further that to no man is justice denied and from no plac [...] They consist equally in uprightness and the independence of the Bar and of the rectitude and efficiency of the officers of the Court who keep this judicial machine going. [...] The traditions of the High Court are in the keeping of each one of the 105cvi THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] We have quoted the above passages to indicate how keenly the Chief Justice is aware of the many problems of the Court and the profession and the State.
