Much of the controversy in the Press over the proposed City Civil Court Bill 1953 and the Sessions Court Bill 1953 was occasioned by the form in which the Bills were drafted. [...] and in view of the conflicting views the Government of the State of West. [...] The.nembers of the Committee which was representative of various interests were unanimous that a City Civil Court and City Sessions Court should be created to relieve the Original Side of the High Court of part of itn jurisdiction. [...] In considering the question whther the Original Side of the Calcutta High Court should be retained and if retained its procedure should he brought into consoance with the procedure of the Court the Committee answered the same in the folloing words We are unanimously of opinion that the Original Side of the Cacutta High Court should be retained but that limits should be placed upon [...] Why did the Government ppoint the Committee if its views rpresentel by the majority opinion are not accepted and made the foundation of the Bills ? It seems however that the Government in the present Bills has acepted neither the majority nor the minority view.
