The great public esteem in which the High Court has been held by the people is du to the fact that the Court has in the pact always sought 25xxvi THE CALCUTTA WEEKLY NOTES. [...] The proposal seems to me to be the thin edge of the wedge for the gradual abolition of the Civil Jurisdiction of the Original Side after which might follow the abolition of its Original Criminal Jurisdition. [...] This is a reprint in book form of a series of papers by the well-known author of " Where to find your Caw." The title of the book is suggested by the work of Sir Edward Creaty "The Fifteen Decisive Battles of the Worldfrom Marathon to Waterloo." The name ilappropriate for the author deals with legal battles of the widest impcirtinee those that have for us an "actual and abiding interest." He [...] In showing cause against the rule it was contended that the tone of the whole article was not adverse to James that the article approached the story of James from a pathetic standpoint the murder was not really in dispute because the prisoner so to speak was taken red-handed the suggestion and the only one being that the man's mind had given way under worry and trouble of various kinds. [...] The treatment of the matter in the paper was of an unfortunate man involved in the charge of murder.
