A reform which transferred the hearing of all the supreme appeals of the various Dominions of the King to the King in Council and enabled the Judicial Committee of that Council to sit in more than one division moving about through the Empire would be a great step in the solution of the problem of Imperial unification. [...] One of the objects of the Association was' the making of private inquiries as to the actions respectability and trustworthiness of individuals and firms and another was the detection and exposure of swindlers. [...] who were all taking an active part in the managment of the firm and there is nothing wha ever to connect the head of the firm the present Appellant with the actual commission of the offences and he really has been charged with and convicted of criminal liability and responsibility for the fraud because he is the head member of the firm and the amount which was obtained by fraud had been cred [...] The judgment says : “In the present case the Proscution avers that the accused and no other melair of the firm perpetrated these frauds.” [THE LORD CHANCELLOR : That is the charge and the Court heard it and the Court held that there was evidence that the agents of the Principal did it and they came to the conclusion on the evidence that the principal partner did it.
