The second is. that the Zemindari (or the office of the Zemindar as it is called in the translation) devolves upon the adopted son of the deceased ; there were certain obligations but they were of the nature of general obligtions applicable in every similar case. [...] " He shall transmit the requisite accounts of his district in the usual Manner signed by hiself and the Canonngoes of the Soubah to the Public Exchequer." [...] The man who stood between the cultivating rayats and the rent gatherer the village-headman the Gram Adhipati had disappeared the whole weight fell upon the rayat. [...] On appeal by the Defendant the lower Appellate Court partly reversed the decision of thE-first Court by disallowing damages to the Plaintiff on the ground that no interest was claimed in the plaint : Held—" The Plaintiff claimed in his plaint damages at the rate of 25 per cent.
