Seasonal Variations and Texture of the Soil on the Nitrification and Organic matter of the Soil Three plots will be laid out in each of the three types of soil met at the station. [...] Water Requirements of Crops (Pot Culture Experiments).—To study the rate of transpiration and water requirements of juar and bajra during the Kharif and wheat and gram in the Rabi grown in medium loam soil under the following conditions :— 1. (a) With optimum soil moisture throughout the life history of the crop. [...] As stated in the last year’s report the main problem at this station is the successful growing of crops on the rains moisture when the annual average rainfall of the locality is in the neighbourhood of 20 inches or so. [...] The average yields of both the crops from the Bunded plots are higher but the differences in the yields from the plots under both the treatments are not so marked as they were last year. [...] The girth in general increased from 1.36 to 1.73" from the middle of August to the middle of September and was followed by a slight shrinkage of the stern during the ripening period the girth a't this time (third week of October) being 1.66".
