37 lakhs is designed to remedy the defective irrigation of a large extent of land under the various channels with open heads taking off from both the banks of the Cauvery river in the Trichinopoly district by the construction of a bed regulator across the river and the excavation of canals to improve the supply in existing channels and to irrigate additional areas. [...] Technical and financial difficulties and the problem of reconciling rival claims to a share in the waters of the river have stood in the way of the exection of the project. [...] (b) The examination of the bed of the More river at the site of the Messaujore reservoir dam in connection with the More reservoir project was taken up during the year under review. [...] The primary object of its construction is to irrigate the land lying along the banks of the Chenab below the junction of the Chenab and Jhelum rivers and to improve the water supply of the Sidhnai canal and of the Chenab inundation canals in the Multan and Muzaffargarh districts. [...] (ii) The revetment of both the banks of the chord cut of the Twante canal between the Rangoon and Letpangon throats was continued during the year under review.
