It is bounded on the north by the states of Sirohi and Mewar on the east by the state of Dungarpur and on the south and west by the British Districts of Ahmedabad and the territory of Baroda. [...] 5. The country is interspersed with hills and rivers the principal of which are the Sabarmati the Physical Hathmati the Meshwo and the Watrak. [...] Since then the territory of Idar has except for a very short time when it passed back in the hands of the Raos of Polo and Rehwars ultimately ending in the re-conquest by Maharaja Shiv Singh in 1751 A. D. continued under the sway of the Surya Vanshi ( Solar race ) Rathore clan who have the proud privilege of being the direct descendants of the hero of the great epic Ramayan. [...] His Excelency the Governor advanced and received His Highness the Maharaja Saheb on the carpet at two-thirds of the distance between the dais and the threshold of the reception room and showed him to a seat at his right hand. [...] At the close of the interview Attar Pan and garlands were given by His Excellency the Governor to His Highness the Maharaja Saheb and by the Chief Secretary to the sons of His Highness and to His Highness' Sardars by the Under Secretary.
