[...] For the sake of uniformity however the deaths are classified under the 18 causes and in the discussions that follow it is understood that the lump under the All Other Causes' in the case of cities is the total of deaths under all causes other than the 17 listed. [...] As compared with the previous year there was a significant decrease in the incidence of cholera a slight rise in that of plague dysentery and diarrhoea typhoid and other fevers and in the case of other causes and all other causes the incidence was about the same as in the previous year. [...] Until however the centralisation of compilations is introduced into the remaining seven districts also as is done in the case of Bangalore and Shimoga Districts such detailed figures will not be available."TABLE 1.
