3. From the above it will be seen that there is a marked increase in the assessments of waterates on lands irrigated by the canals of the Orissa project the aggregate of the year amounting to Rs. [...] The canals of the Sone project with the exception of the Patna branch canal show also an inprovernent in the assessments when compared with those of the two previous years. [...] On the other hand there has been a consideable falling off in the operations of the Midnapore canal this is mainly due as stated in the Revenue report for 1876-77 by the Chief Engineer to the extreme poverty of the people. [...] 4. The total cash realizations of water-rates during the year show an increase over the previous year to the extent of Rs 69 353 but this is due solely to the recoveries on account of the Orissa project. [...] Statement showing the Navigation receipts collected on the several canals of the Orissa Midnapore and Sone projects from the commencement up to the end of 1877-78.
