This General Report only gives brief abstracts of the above (vide Abstracts IV and V in the Table of contents) and is confined to reporting the survey operations of the ordinary field parties and detachments. Organization.—Forrnation of Frontier Circle.—Under the orders of the Government of India a new circle of the Survey of India designated the Frontier Circle and comprising roughly the area of the Northern and Western Commands of the Army was constituted with effect from the forenoon of 1st October 1925 with head-quarters at Simla. [...] The following two tables show respectively the progress of the topographical programme assigned to the Department in 1905 and 4he out-turns and cost-rates of different parties during the year. [...] In 1913 the Secretary of State sanctioned a scheme for the reduction of the scale of survey of certain sparsely populated areas of India.
