A model of river Sutlej at Pallah Headworks was examined to determine the training works necessary to straighten out the approach of the river to the weir in order to feed satisfactorily the canals taking off on the right and the left. [...] These readings combined with a determination of the moisture content of the soil below the bed of the canal give the seepage at the site examiner]. [...] An apparatus depending on the change of resistance caused by the fluctutions of the level of water in the Chenab has been devised in the institute and installed at the Khanki Head. [...] (a) Effect of an Impervious Clay Layer at Some Depth Below a Floor on the Pressure Distribution under the Base.--it was shown that the nearer the clay layer is to the floor the more closely does the distribution of pressure approach the linear hypothesis of fall of pressure. [...] In this model only a part of the weir the whole of the undersluice and canal regulator with the guide banks upstream and downstream of the weir line and about 2 000 feet upstream of the upstream end of the left guide banks were mdelled to a scale of 1/16.
