Annual Report (Technical) of the Work of the Central Board of Irrigation India 1935-36

During the year under report the Board was honoured for the first time since its constitution by the presence of His Excellency the Viceroy at the opening of the proceedings of the Board's Annual Meeting. [...] The main investigations of the Statistical Section have been connected with the following :— " The effect of surface sources of water on the behaviour of the water-table in an area of low rainfall and the effect of the surface sources of water on the behaviour of the water-table in an area with a high rainfall and comparatively stable water table." The example of the first type was the area serv [...] (1) The inclination of the slope is the minimum angle of repose of the stones at the boundary velocities obtaining and is independent of the grade of sand. [...] The use of the continuous baffle for the dissipation of energy in cases where boulders are washed down in the current has been criticised on the grounds that it would prevent the passage of the boulders and that these pounded up and down by the current upstream of the baffle would eventually damage the pavement. This was done in the year under report by changing the position of off-take of the Khipro to the approach channel of the Mithrao at the same time increasing the width of the Mithrao approach channel and reducing the width of the River so as to maintain the present ratio of discharge per foot run into the River and approach channel.
