The Survey oontains two parts : the first part consists of separate notes dealing with the various economic activities of the country and describing the economic conditions of the month and the second gives the necessary general statistical data dealing with production trade and financial conditions. [...] The progressive figures must not therefore be understood as necessarily representing the sum of the monthly figures shown in the table or the sum of the latest month's figures and of the progressive figures published in the preceding month. [...] There were signs of a gradual revival of confidence in the future trend of raw jute prices owing partly to the increased demand from mills and partly to the decision of the Bengal Government to enforce a reduction in the acreage under jute in 1941 by two-thirds of the area sown in the current year. [...] STOCKS The following tables give the stasis of manufactured goods held by the mills in the membership of the Indian Jute Mills Association and some other mills from August 1930 :- At the and of 1910. [...] Stocks of hessian cloth and bags at the end of September 1940 were 25.5 crores of yards thus recording a decrease of 4.7 crores of yards as copared with the previous month and of 4.0 crores of yards as compared with September 1939.
