Monthly Survey of Business Conditions in India October 1948

1948

Corrections have to be made from time to time in these statistics on receipt of revised data from the reporting authorities and the progressive figures should not therefore be understood as necessarily representing the sum of the monthly figures shown in the table or the sum of the latest months figures and of the progressive figures published in the preceding Survey. [...] There was no change in the prices of iron steel and coal and the market for sugar was steady to firm during the first half of the month and dull during the latter half of the month. [...] Dull conditions characterised trading in the industrial share market at Bombay with the exception in the first week of a slight advance in prices on the announcement of the anti-inflationary policy of the Government of India which was well received by the market.
