The successful outcome of the talks held between the two Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan brought to an end the dull spell which was prevailing during the first week of the month. [...] Almost all of this increase may be accounted for by accumulations in U. S. stocks and the stocks acquired in the course of price support operations during the current and the previous seasons may mount up to well over one-third of the total world carryover at the end of the season. [...] The following table gives the statistics of total production of jute manufactures as reported by the mills in the membership of the Indian jute Mills Association: Production of Jute Manufactures. [...] The estimate generally covers the period upto the end of October and the beginning of November 1949 and till then the condition of the crop was reported to be generally satisfactory except in a few districts of Hyderbad and Bombay where the crop has been reported to have suffered some damage on account of rust attacks. [...] The estimate relates to the period upto the middle of December 1949 and till then the condition of the crop was reported to be generally satisfactory in all parts of the country.
