A knowledge of the structure of the Latin language is the most valuable help to understanding the general principles of the Eurpean languages and its regular and formal syntax is a valuable corrective to the loose phrasing which easily arises from the syntactical freedom of modern English." The Board require that the instruction in Latin should aim at giving (r) a careful and thorough knowle [...] The constant spitting the utter dis-regard of sanitary laws the abnormal desire to lie and cheat even when little or no advanage could be gained by doing so the self-conceit the propensity to be affronted were all the effects of the long and foolish neglect of the physical powers and those of the modern educators who first devoted themselves to producing a healthy body and a keen desire fo [...] It is pathetic to see them fathers and even grandfathers who once were the pride of their mountain villages and out of the way cities coming up and competing against the men of a new and vigorous generation In the meanwhile the Board of Education goes serenely on trying to centralise all the authority and either careless or ignorant of the confusion it creates. [...] Giles said one of the great remedies of the present backwardness of Mahomedan education was that a sound systew of scholarship should be introduced in the secondary schools and colleges for the benefit of bright and clever boys of the community. [...] To remedy the defects of the system of present-day education and to fulfil the growing educational needs of the people it was resolved some months ago to open a National School at Rajahmundry agreeably to the resolutions of the Indian National Congress held in Calcutta and the Madras Provincial Conference held in Vizagapatam.
