The new volume deals with secondary and university education in France a subject of great interest to the educational public throughout the world (for what country is not affected by the culture of France ?) and to Englishmen in particular because the date of the last momentous change in French secondary education synchronised with that in the position and outlook of the great majority of Englis [...] Logically the change would involve the assimilation of the course of study in these preparatory classes in the &de to that of the classes in the primary school. [...] The services which the office of Special Inquiries and reports at the Board of Education has rendered to the Education Departments of the Empire was warmly acknowleged and the English Board of Education was requested to extend the services of that office in such a way as to meet the needs of the various Education Departments of the King's dominions. [...] Education or from the local education authorities ; also in secondary schools not receiving grants of which the Governing Bodies agree thereto ; and that the system should be managed at the cost of the State by a Council to consist of representatives (a) of the State (b) of the Local Education Authorities (c) of Governing Bodies and (d) of teachers in the schools and institutions concerned.
