195 The war will make education more important than ever before in every nation in Europe and not least in our own it is the young who willhave the task of rebuilding the injured fabric of civilisation and of gathering new accumulations of capital for the repair of industry and commerce which have been impaired or deflected by the war: It is the young who will lead the new movements for the rec [...] But these survivals have been transferred to the hands of the Cabinet which holds office at the pleasure of the House of Commons and ultimately of the electorate. [...] Of the two plans the English is in the long run the wiser because the more supple ; but it is also the less tidy of the two the more liable to confusion and the less economical in its use of human energy in the conduct of affairs. [...] And because the aims and methods of national education are of fundamental importance in the development of the State the world will imitate in future according to the issue of the war English or German methods of school organisation. [...] He was a Fellow and Examiner of the University of Madras Vice-President of the Graduates' Association Secretary of the Cosmopoj litan Club and the Madras branch of the National Indian Association and Municipal Councillor in Madras Trustee of Pachaiyappa's Charities.
