Modern Review July 1936

1936

It should be made clear to the British authorities that while the British and India Governments are using Indian soldiers in Addis Ababa as well as the regions of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean for the protection of British interests they are not giving the Indian people opportunity to acquire the required efficiency in the field of national defense. [...] The sweep of democracy throughout the world the desire for reform the enthusiasm for education the demand for equality the passion for Swaraj the rapid industrial development of the country the increased facilities of travel in and outside India the flaw attitude' towards women the struggle Chriektaity is Mdia—By J. N. Farqshu. [...] The Hari* problem has now become one of the classic issues of Indian history and the future attitude of the Harijans on the one hand and caste Hindus on the other will determine who will rule India in the future—the Hindu or the Muslim. [...] On the other hand the deteriration of the deltaic rivers has robbed Bengal of the annual soil dressing she received by rich deposits of river-borne milt which added enomously to the fertility of the soil in the past times. [...] India was particularly roused and a wave of indignation and resentment surged up from every corner of the country because of the arrogant insolent and on the face of it absurd and ridiculous claim of the Fuehrer that the Indians were taught to walk by the Britishers.
