They note with deer regret that the British Goverment have reiertefl the friendly °frer and practical sugestion contained in the Poona reinhition of the C. C. of 28th July framed for a solution of the deadlock and to enable the Indian National Congress to witdraw its non-co-operation and 'enure in the recent crisis the patriotic coperation of all the people of India in the governance o [...] The British Government would gather f.ogethcr and carry on with such dissentient groups and individuals as oppose the wishes of the majority of the people of India and without any co-ordination with the sleeted legislatures at the Centre or in the Provinces rather than concede anything that would work towanb the recognition of the rights of the people of India to rule themselves democratically. [...] Congress and the Present Political Situation The Congress Working Committee has issued the following resolution to the press : "The decision of the British Government to enforce their will on India in opposition to the will of the great majority of the people and wordless of comequencee has produced a situation of the utmost gravity. [...] if not the sole national non-communal or all-communal organization Of the right to work for the protection and safeguarding of the interest and rights and the removal of the grievanee4 of all communties and their member? [...] The Congress is that powerful organization and the Muslim League has been the most vocifrous and persistent among the proteges of the British novernment to deny and object to the authority of the Congress.
