The object of this article is to bring together for the infomation of the planting community all the data which the Deparment of Agriculture has available on the habits and life-histories of this group of caterpillar pests of tea. [...] The internal symptoms are characterised by the deteriration of the nuclei of the tissue cells specially of the blood and fat cells and by the presence in the tissues of the victims of myriads of polyhedral bodies which are considered to be by-products of the disease. [...] As in the case of Natada we have no records of the duration of the cocoon stage of Narosa under field conditions but in view of the short duration of this stage in the insectary it seems improbable that the larva remains for more than a few days in the cocoon before pupating."210 MOTHS Mating Oviposition and Duration of Moth Stage.—The few moths under observation in the insectary began mating w [...] Hence the object of this article is to bring to the notice of the general public the present position of the rice industry in Ceylon and the progress effected during the past decade. [...] It is acknowledged that the most important and pressing economic problem of the Island is the development of its rice industry which would greatly influence the prosperity of the other industries and consequently the general prosperity of the country.
