Their agricultural problems are in the main the same and the great difficulties experienced are the prevalence of malaria and the frequent impossibility to obtain a good supply of drinking water more especially perhaps is this latter the case in the southern zone. [...] The difficulty and cost of removing the stumps whose presence after burning the brush-wood prevents at first the employment of implemental tillage and the control of weeds in consequence are serious problems to be overcome in the development of a scheme of permanent agriculture. [...] As indicated by the detailed descriptions of cervina larvae given previously these nettle grubs are among the most conspicuotil of those usually found on tea the younger larvae by reason of their bright orange tubercles and purple or reddish spots along the back the older larvae because of their large size and brilliant patches of colour on the middle of the back. [...] The moths of Thosea cana may be distinguished from those of T. recta by their more uniform greyish-brown colour by the absence of the short oblique white line and the dark middle area of the costa and by the presence of the dark spot in the middle of the fore wing. [...] In the case of the single pair of moths under observation the moths emerged during the same night from cocoons received from the field the date of formation of the cocoon being unknown.
