They exaggerate the possibility of the evasion of the law and the difficulty of the supervision of its working. [...] In the earlier part of the article reference has been made to the tendency of the indutrial employment of women to the loosening of the moral bond as regards sexual relations The remedies against this tendency lie firstly in the education of the women workers and secondly in so improving the conditions of work and life as to cultivate in them the epirit of indepedence. [...] It is influenced by the contemporary criticism of the drama of life —the ever-changing manners and fashions of society the dominant ideas and opiions of the people and the actions and events of the passing age —either by the actors or specttors. [...] The specialization of satire and its sectarian appliction to the political organization of the State took place in the period known as the Restoration as the result of the evolution of the party system. [...] In the middle ages the corruption of the clergy was the chief butt of ridicule and the administration of justice was always attacked severely since both the clergy and laity sought for " Mede the Maid." Langland besides expoing the vices of the various classes of society makes use of the fable of the Cat and Rat to criticize the Government.
