[...] The incident of the installtion of the image of Mandvira brought from the city of Kanndnava is related in Kany7mayaniya-illabatiira-pratimd-kalpa (in Prakrit) thus: The image was fashioned at the city of Kannanaya in the Cola country in V. S. 1233 (= A. D. 1176). [...] Having heard from Dh5rd-clhara the astronomer the praise of the great erudition of the saint he sent him to the saint and brought him on the 2nd day of the bright fortnight of Paus.
