Task for Christian Education Modern civilization today seems to be following the same road as the ancient world under the Roman Empire; on the one hand a vast development of material resources and luxury—above all luxury for the masses—bread and games and baths and theatres; on the other the vast development of power—the overwhelming pressure of unlimited power concentrated in the hands of the m [...] For the decline of the classical culture and the growth of the massive power of the world state did not actually produce in the long-run a matrialist culture. [...] It was the age of Tiberius and Nero that saw the coming of Christianity and the breakdown of the giant fabric of the world state in the third century was followed by the rise of the new Christian culture. [...] The greater is our knowledge of nature and man and history the greater is the obligation to use these increased rsources for God not merely in the way of moral action but intellectually also:IP by the re-interpretation of the tradition of Christian culture in terms of the new knowledge and by relating the instrments of culture to their true spiritual end The recovery of a Christian cultu [...] The abolition of private property the nationlization of the industries the revolution of the proletariat preceded by class struggle and uprisals among the peasantry or factory workers the fight against the richer the dictatorship of Communist principles with exclusion of all other tenets the wiping out of religious and mostly Christian beliefs and their substitution by a rigid materialism
