Laboratory Method of teaching mathematics which consists in the performing of actual experiments in physics from the quantitative standpoint is only an expression of the discontent with the prevailing abstract methods as well as a recognition of the truth that the abstract grows out of the cocrete. [...] The London Board of Educatiori in its Suggestions for the Consideration of Teachers has recognized the need of systematic teaching of many of the roce§ses of mental Arithmetic. [...] The inevitable outcome of this is immediate concentration of the mind at grasping with rapidity the shape and discrimination of the essentials from the non-essential for the Drawing. [...] The larger the number of observers the varying their interests the more complete and exhaustive the obsevations the more valuable is the help rendered to kindle the aesthetic love of mankind. [...] Originally meant for the woring of the machinery of society in respect of the division of labour the system is to-day proving baneful and is stampeding the progress of national unity.
