At the meeting of the Senate of the Madras University held on 19th March it was unanimously resolved to appoint a represenative Committee to deal fully with the question of the relations of the affiliated colleges to the University and to submit a report to the Senate. [...] From the above account of the occurrences which preceded the formation of the committee referred to at the commencement of this article the impression has undoubtedly got about that the chief duty of the committee will consist of submitting proposals to the Senate for remedying the grievance of the mofussil. [...] The state of affairs in connection with the Madras Law College which was brought to light at the adjourned meeting of the Senate on the 25th March seems to point to the fact that the University has lz)ractically no control worth the name over the regulations of its affiliated colleges. [...] In the article which opens the current number of this journal we commented on the complete absence of any control on the part of the Madras University over the regulations of its affiliated colleges and on the practical exclusion of Mofussil affiliated colleges from having any voice in the management of University affairs. [...] In the Rewa liantha Politica] Agency we have the Rajahs of Lunawara and Baria as well as the late :Rajah of Sunth ; and in the south of the Bombay Presidency the Nawab of Janjira the only Habshi ruler in India the Maharajah of Kohlapore the Chief of Mudhol the Nawab of Savanur &c.
