INTRODUCTION kONE of the results direct or indirect of the Great War is the increasing attetion to the necessity of superintendence of the physical growth of the pupil. [...] There is in the man an apparent conflict of two ideals—the ideal to struggle and come out best in the struggle for existence leaving the weaker and the less competent to the wall : and the ideal of sacrifice by which man gives his best for the uplift and service of brother-men and to the members of the lower orders of the living creations of plants and animals. [...] The health of the boy or the girl the presence of contagious or hereditary diseases in the family the colour and the complexion of the party—these do not count in the settlement. [...] Two nside polygons are similar under any one of the following three sets of conditions : (r) all the n-sides of the one are proportional to all the corrsponding n-sides of the other and n-3 consecutive angles of the one are respectively equal to the corresponding n-3 angles of the other; (2) n-r sides of the one are proportional to the corresponding sides of the other and n-2 angles contained [...] NKr 1926 consecutive sides of the one are proportional to the corresponding n-2 sides of the other and n-t angles at the extremities of these sides of the one are equal to the corresponing H-I angles of the other.
