The Kindegarten the Play-way and the different kinds of manual work which are now an integral part of methods of instruction in all elmentary schools in the West are based on a recognition of the superiority of crafts over mere reading and writing in the education of the child. [...] The Government are fully alive to the imperative need of encouraging girls' eduction and their attitude towards this important aspect of Indian education can well be expressed in the words of the Hartog Committee : In the interests of the advance of Indian education itself priority should be given to the claims of the girls' education in every scheme of educational expansion."
