The scrupulous implmentation of that advice by the British Government has resulted in an actual improvement of the health condition of the people inspite of the stress of war. [...] To establish the reputation of the Indian drug in foreign markets and to place the trade on a firm and permanent footing the attention of all concerned has already been drawn to the necessity of collecting only the richer varieties of the drug from proper localities and at the proper season. [...] The intricacy of the analysis of ghee for the purpose of detection of adulteration has been greatly increased by the introduction of different vegetable and hardened oils as adulterants. [...] The aim of the present investigation is to ascertain whether Kirschner value and the relationship between Reichert Polenske and Kirschner values is indispen-"KIRSCHNER VALUE IN THE DETECTION OF ADULTERATION OP GHEE 155 sable for the detection of small amounts of foreign oils and fats in ghee by the help of analytical results of some known mixtures and of several routine samples. [...] This finding is not essential for the purpose of the present investigation which has been undertaken to determine the utility of Kirschner value of the detection of small percentage of adulteration of ghee.
