When the Aryans entered Gujarat first from the North via Rajputana or Arvalli gaps and later from the North-West and North-East by the Malwa and the Dohad routes the aboriginal Dasyus of the Vedas and the Kaliparaj of to-day had to leave the plains and retreat to the mountains. [...] For in view of the fact that the unconscious is an arena of the battles of conflicting desires the lesser the suppression ' the lesser the conflict and the better for the child. [...] The modern methods of education such as 378 JOURNAL OF THE GUJARAT RESEARCH SOCIETY the Dalton plan the Play way. the Project method are in consonance with the spirit of the theory of the unconscious. [...] The desert of Radhanpur the Mount Abu the ranges of the Arasur and the Aravallis all of them form the northernmost outposts ; the ridges of the Aravallis the rolling plateaux of Malwa and Mewar and the festoons of the Vidhyas form the norteastern and eastern boundary ; in the south gape the spurs of the Satpuras and the Vindhyas and the northward projections of the rugged Sahiyadris int [...] The western sea-board and the estuaries of the rivers like the Narbuda and the Tapti as also the gulf of Cambay expose Gujarat marginally to the maritime activities of other nations ; while the land gaps open out the plains of Gujarat to the icursions of the predatory conquerors though all the same they link up Gujarat with the rest of India.
