I am just now concerned with the use of jiana in the Yoga of the Gila."i24 JOURNAL OF THE GUJARAT RESEARCH SOCIETY It should be stated that jfiana can be the jiiana of the individual soul the Prakrti the gunas of the tPrakrti Aksara or Avyakta the Puru sa Sri Krsna etc. [...] Verses 31-38 are closely connected with v. 11-30. A discussion about the relation of the body and the soul not in general but when the warriors are killed in the battle-field is the topic of v. 11-30 and the same is also continued from the standpoint of a ksatriya's duty in v. 31-38 so that the v. 31-38 give the Sarnkhya view-point though Sarikara takes v. 31-38 as a digression. [...] Usually in the Gltd 'the followers of the sak7sma karmakTinda of the Vedas are contrasted with the followers of the nisk5ma karmacarana or Yoga of the Gra e.g. [...] 1-6 is not that of the comparative importance of siara and nirakara aspects of the Lord but that of the followers of the "D. [...] Two philosophical principles Prakrti and Puru sa are mentioned here ; the former is karyakaranakarktve hetu the cause of the activity of the body and senses and the latter is the cause of the experience of pleasure and pain.
