[...] MAMMALS Our knowledge of the Mammalia is mainly due to the band of 'enthusiastic workers who contributed their mite for the publication of Blanford's2 Mammalia This out of date volume at the instance of the scheme launched by the Bombay Natural History Society is under revision by Pocock3 and two volumes are already out. [...] CYCLOSTOMATA Below the level of the fishes proper are the Cyclostomes (round-mouthed vertebrates in which the notochord is persistent and jaws and limbs are absent.) These are not found in our area. [...] In the former times the custom of expelling the demons of sickness in the form of animals was common; but this custom is now rare and is on the verge of an extinction.
