Sukthankar concludes that the home-land of the S'atavahanas was the Bellary district mainly on the strength of the Myakadoni and the Hirahadagalli plates and that the land was called after the people (the province of S'atavahanas). [...] It is also necessary to stress the fact that S'rikakulam the capital of the ancient home of the Andhras had been washed away by the river Krishna and that epigraphic and other historical relics must have found their permanent resting place either in the bed of the river or at the bottom of the sea. [...] Indeed there is a strong and unbroken tradition in the Telugu-speaking area supported by literary evidence that the founder of the Andhra race settled down in the area round S'rikakulam and that he fought hard and vanquished the aboriginal tribes and settled down in the area round S'rikakulam."
