Though the country is ahead of many others in the study of nutrition.problems the level of food consumtion by the people is very low and can be corected only by the increase of purchasing power and the production of an abundance of food. [...] The quantity of the nutrients required depends upon the size of the animal and the amount of production expected. [...] The economical value of the different rations was calculated from the intake and the cost of the roughages green berseem and concentrates fed during the experiment. [...] The grains and oil-cakes were valued at the average market price at the time of the experiments and the cost of berseem was arrived at from the actual cost of raising the crop on the respective farms where the experiments were conducted. [...] The spore-masses are confined to the few outer cortical layers of the whip ; the internal portion being of the normal thin-walled parenchymatous cells and vascular bundles similar to those of the central portion of the cane stalk in the region of the internodes.
