With the establisment of the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research the ex-officio Presidentship has been vested in the Vice-Chairman of the Imperial Council of Agricultural Research. [...] This Committee was inaugurated at New Delhi on 29 November 1944 by the Hon'ble Sir Jogendra Singh Member-in-Charge of the Department of Education Health and Lands in the Government of India who was instrumental in securing the appointment of the Indian Royal Commission on Agriculture in 1926 and who rightly claims that sugarcane and the production of refined sugar have been one of the main in [...] (v) The following representatives nominated by the Governor-General in Council : One of the sugar factory owners Four of the gur and khandsari industry Three to represent the consumers One of Sugar Technologists' Association One representative of the Government of India Industries and Civil Supplies Deparment One representative of the sugarcane growers of HospetDecember 19461 BOSE: THE INDIAN [...] These Sub-Committees include : (a) the Agricultural Research Sub-Committee (b) the Technological Sub-Committee and (c) the Scientific and Technical Appointments Sub-Committee which are under the Chairmaship of the President (d) the Finance SuCommittee and (e) the Local Sub-Committee under the Chairmanship of the Vice-President (f) the (fur and Khandsari Sub-Committee under the Chairmansh [...] The main lines of research undertaken and the other activities in progress include (a) problems of sugar technology in general and those of the sugar factories in India in particular (b) the utilization of the by-products of the industry (c) testing of new varieties of cane under factory conditions (d) general problems of sugar engineering and sugar chemiStry and (e) training of students in al
