Every aspect of improvement in the agricultural marketing systems in any part of the world therefore depends very largely on the manner in which arrangements could be made to put the farmer in a stronger bargaining position from the point of view of his getting for the type and quality of his produce a rate on parity with prices prevailing for the same type and quality in the key markets. [...] The type and quality of seed the cultural practices and the methods of harvesting and prparing the produce for the market which also determine quality could however be controlled by the farmers. [...] JANUARY 1949 6SORE ASPECTS OF GRADING AND STANDARDIRATION OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN INDIA The mal-practices are the main cause for lack of confidence between the primary producer on the one hind and the trader on the other. [...] Prior to the introduction of compulsion in 1945 on the grading of tobacco before export by far the largest part of exports sent by Indian shippers used to be on the basis of consignment. [...] (LoN D.) of Agriculture (b) insufficient methods of storage of manure adopted at present ; (c) the failure to collect available refuse from the farm and village surroundings and to utilize the same in the cattle shed for absorption of urine ; (d) the present habit of burning cow-dung for fuel and (e) absence of any arrangements for coservation of human excreta and urine in villages.
